Rachel Bloom was selected as a featured artist for the first Decatur ArtWorks event on Friday, May 3, 2019, 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., at Decatur CoWorks.

Bloom is a 17-year-old ceramics artist from Decatur. Since age 13, she could be found on a unicycle, at school or at the pottery studio. More recently, she has spent time at Decatur CoWorks as a part-time staff member.

With a focus on functional pottery, Bloom is fascinated with the Raku process and enjoys working with white crackle glazes. Her pieces have been featured in galleries and stores across the country.

While Bloom is preparing to study the sciences in college, she hopes to remain a lifelong potter.

Decatur ArtWorks is a partnership between Decatur CoWorks and local artists to spark creativity and support arts in the community. There is no charge for the event, but voluntary donations will support the Public Art Fund in Decatur. For more information and to register, visit DecaturCoWorks.com (“Events” section).
